english test prepIn honor of today’s end-of-term exams at IEI, here are a few tips to help you get ready for any English exam, whether it’s a class final, the TOEFL, the TOEIC, or another test.

  1. Give yourself lots of time to study — Don’t try to learn everything the night before your exam. Your mind will retain much more information if you study a little each day for many days.
  2. Ask for help if you need it—American teachers welcome questions outside of class, and many will give you extra assistance or help you to find a tutor. Also, try studying with friends — discussing the vocabulary, grammar, and other information you’re learning makes it stick in your mind better.
  3. Take care of your body — Eating healthy foods, exercising regularly, and limiting caffeine and alcohol will give you more energy and make it easier to focus your mind.
  4. Get enough sleep — This is especially important the night before your exam. Go to bed a little early so that you can wake up refreshed and ready to conquer your exam.

What else do you do to get ready for an exam?
