First, here are some questions about our schedule.
How long is a term at IEI?
Each term is about seven weeks long with classes five days a week. We have six terms each year.
How many terms should study before I can pass the TOEFL?
The answer depends on your English level when you start at IEI. If you work hard in all your classes, you can go from Level 1 to the TOEFL in one year. If you already have some English knowledge, you will need less time at IEI.
When does the next term start?
The July/August 2011 term starts with registration here in Nashville on June 27. See the dates for all terms on our website.
How long will it take to get my student visa?
The length of time depends on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your country. Check the U.S. State Department website for wait times.
How long can I stay in the U.S. after I finish studying at IEI?
If you have an F-1 (student) visa, you may stay in the country for 60 days after finishing studies. You must transfer to another school or leave the U.S. within 60 days, or you will be here illegally.
How many hours a day will I have classes?
Full-time students take four or five classes, which equals 20 or 25 hours per week.
Can I study part-time?
If you are here on an F-1 visa, you must study full-time unless you are eligible for a vacation. Students who live in the U.S. may study full-time or part-time.
How much time will I need for my homework?
Plan for about an hour a day each for grammar, writing, and conversation classes. There is no homework for reading or listening labs.
