Every year in Tennessee, for one weekend only, you can buy some important items and pay no sales tax. Because so many people jump at the chance to save 10%, many stores offer additional discounts so that you’ll choose their store.
This year’s tax-free holiday weekend begins at 12:01 a.m on Friday, August 2 and ends Sunday, August 4 at 11:59 p.m.
The holiday does not apply to everything. It is meant to help families prepare for the school year. If you shop that weekend, you won’t pay sales tax on clothing items under $100, school supplies under $100, and computers under $1,500.
