Jian Sun is one of many students who have come to IEI in preparation for university studies in Nashville. He spent last fall honing his English skills at IEI to prepare for the demands of graduate business courses. This semester, he began as an MBA (master of business education) student specializing in information technology at Trevecca Nazarene University, just up the road from IEI.

English isn’t Jian’s second language, though; it’s his third. Back home in China, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Russian, including a year of study abroad in Nizhny Novgorod, a city about 250 miles (400 km) east of Moscow. After graduating from university and working for five years in government and international trade, Jian set his sights on furthering his education in the United States.

“I choose to study business in America because America has the best education in the world, especially business education,” says Jian. “My goal is to find a job in America and gain enough experience so that I can get a better opportunity when I go back to China.”

With fluency in three languages, international experience, and soon an MBA, the future looks bright for this IEI alumni!
